5 Takeaways from Infosecurity Europe 2023

Go back

Infosecurity Europe 2023 held at the ExCel, London, was a well attended and impressive conference this year, offering security practitioners a comprehensive overview of the latest trends and advancements in cyber. The conference kicked off with a standing room only keynote by four-time Olympic gold medalist, Michael Johnson. Thursday, the final day, began with a compelling keynote delivered by Keren Elazari, ‘The Friendly Hacker,’ Author and Industry Analyst. Here's a synopsis of my noteworthy highlights from the exhibit:

1. Legacy DLP is broken

Just like we’ve heard from the North America market at RSAC 2023, UK-based cyber teams are also unhappy with their legacy data protection solutions and vendors. I heard many comments around the difficulties experienced trying to change configurations and policies in the software, and also poor customer support.

2. Everyone is talking about ransomware, resilience and AI

Ransomware, resilience and AI were frequent topics across the Keynotes and Tech Showcases. Attendees had the opportunity to hear from industry experts and explore innovative solutions aimed at addressing today’s security challenges. From the speaking halls to the vendor exhibits, attendees had ample opportunities to learn how organizations can enhance their security posture effectively.

3. In-person events are back

It seemed like the UK’s security practitioners were back out in full force. The organizers and multiple vendors said attendee numbers seemed comparable to pre-pandemic levels. The Tech Showcases and workshops spread throughout the exhibit hall were frequently at capacity. From incident response simulations to hands-on demonstrations of penetration testing techniques, these sessions offered valuable practical insights into cybersecurity practices.

Overall, Infosecurity Europe's exhibit was a resounding success, providing attendees with an immersive experience that showcased the forefront of cybersecurity. From state-of-the-art technologies to expert knowledge sharing, the event facilitated a valuable exchange of ideas, empowering professionals to bolster their defenses in the face of ever-evolving cyber threats.
